I created these fantasy creatures with big eyes and open mouths from lamb spine bones I found from my travels to Estonian islands. Pieces of China are tongues in open mouths. It depends on the viewer if this creature is laughing, screaming or surprised.
Tanel Veenre Lives and works in Tallinn, Estonia. He has educated as jewellery artist (MA) in Estonian Academy of Arts (1995-2005) and Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam (1997-98). He has shown his work since 1996, which includes jewellery, photography and fashion. 2012-2017 worked as a professor of Design Faculty in Estonian Academy of Arts. Tanel Veenre has exhibited his works in more than 250 solo and group exhibitions around the world – including in major museums: Staatliche Antikensammlung (Munich), Museum of Arts & Design (New York), MAK (Vienna), The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of Decorative Arts (Oslo), Designmuseum Danmark (Copenhagen), Design Museum (Helsinki), Estonian Design and Applied Art Museum (Tallinn), Rhösska Museet (Götheborg), Lithuanian Art Museum (Vilnius), Beijing Arts & Crafts Museum, Museum voor Moderne Kunst in Arnhem, Barcelona Textile Museum, Ceramic Museum Gonzalez Marti (Valencia). Tanel Veenre has been giving lectures/workshops in Estonia, New Zealand, Brazil, China, Scotland, Finland, Portugal, Spain, Norway, Israel, Sweden, Chile, Taiwan, Thailand, Mexico and Germany. Tanel Veenre is represented by galleries in Sweden, USA, New Zealand, Germany, Holland, Latvia, Austria, Mexico and Brazil. Since 2013 running a jewellery brand Tanel Veenre Jewellery sold in more than 20 stores in Europa, Canada and China. 2018 opened a flagshiop store in Tallinn city centre. Tanel Veenre is a father of twins and a happy man.
