Myung Urso

About Artist

Myung Urso was born in South Korea. Her studies include a BA degree in Biology, an MFA degree in fiber arts from Hongik University, Seoul, Korea in 1986 and an MA degree for Museum & Gallery Management from the City University in London, England in 1995. As a curator and art director Myung Urso organized more than 50 contemporary crafts exhibitions throughout South Korea and in the countries of France, the United Kingdom and the United States. Myung has served as a juror for numerous crafts competitions and as an advisor for the Korean Ministry of Culture & Tourism, the Korea National Museum Foundation, and the Korea Craft Promotion Foundation, etc. In addition, Myung Urso was a lecturer at several universities such as Duksung University, Kookmin University and Sookmyung University within South Korea. In 2006 she moved to Rochester NY.  Myung is a self-trained contemporary jewelry artist and creates unique one-of-a-kind pieces using mainly fiber, paper and mixed media with precious metals.

明御愫，生于韩国，拥有生物学学士学位，韩国首尔弘毅大学的纤维艺术硕士学位（1986），英国伦敦城市大学博物馆和画廊管理硕士学位（1995）。作为策展人和艺术总监，明御愫在韩国、法国、英国和美国等地举办了50多场当代工艺展。她曾担任韩国文化旅游部、韩国国家博物馆基金会、韩国工艺推广基金会等多个工艺竞赛的评委和顾问。此外，她还任教于韩国的德成女子大学、国民大学和淑明女子大学等几所大学。

2006年，她搬到了美国罗切斯特市。这位自学成才的首饰艺术家，以纤维、纸张和贵金属为主要原料，创作出独一无二的首饰作品。
