Sivan Sternbach
Sivan’s ceramics are the purest expression of how she lives her life.
Sivan uses everything she sees, touches and tastes as inspiration. In their playful and tactile qualities, her pieces reflect my natural appetite for freedom and connection to the present moment.
Sivan began experimenting on 2010, with the same delight and curiosity as she began to experiment with cakes many years ago. As a professional pastry chef, trained and certified by the FCI in New York City, Sivan felt a strong connection between making pastry and shaping clay. Both are naturally similar and endlessly satisfying processes. Sivan draws deep pleasure from watching people’s unabashed reactions to her pieces.
Sivan balloons—in varying sizes, colors and levels of inflatedness—seem to trigger positive childhood memories. I’ve come to realize they have the potential to capture a person’s fleeting, happy memory and render it timeless.
In her everyday life, Sivan travels a lot, visits galleries and museums, wander down streets. She cooks and bakes and blogs a lot about that. Sivan explores and shares what she find—be it real life objects, new flavors, and anything made with authenticity and heart.
